The Scientists behind the Movies

Did you know that scientists are trying to influence us through movies?

It is not even the evil scientists this time.

The interesting thing is the producers of Watchmen sought out scientists to make their movie better.

This article is about the Science and Entertainment Exchange. It is a connection between Hollywood and scientists in a mutually-beneficial relationship. Hollywood gets story ideas and advice, scientists get to be a part of the production process and also further their goals of making science sexy again!

Two of their key messages are getting people to think a little bit more critically (on evolution, the false autism-vaccine link, etc) and to learn more about the world around you.

Advocating your organization’s goals by using movies (especially popular movies like Watchmen) is something I had never heard of.

I thought the only people trying to influence us in movies were the marketers with their incessant product placements! (Just try to be a little more subtle, guys)
